Wolves host Jazz tonight, hear it on KWLM


(Minneapolis, MN)  --  The Minnesota Timberwolves hit the hardwood this evening as they host the Utah Jazz at the Target Center.  The Wolves had a three-game winning streak come to an end with a 103-101 overtime loss at Denver on Monday to fall to 16-and-17 on the season.  More....

Gophers host Sparty


(Minneapolis, MN)  --02-22-2012--  The Minnesota Golden Gophers face a stiff conference test this evening as they host sixth-ranked Michigan State at Williams Arena.  The Gophers have dropped three straight games to fall to 17-and-10 on the season.  They suffered a 64-53 setback at Northwestern on Saturday to dip to 5-and-9 in the Big Ten. More....

Perkins throwing hard


(Fort Myers, FL)  --02-22-2012--  Twins relief pitcher Glen Perkins of Stillwater says he believes the increased pitching velocity he showed last year will continue this season.  Perkins says he worked hard to upgrade his arm strength and that's why his fastball was consistently between 94- and 97-miles per hour last season.  More....

Gopher wrestlers #1 in the nation


(Undated)  --02-22-2012--  The University of Minnesota moved to the top spot in this week's National Wrestling Coaches Association poll.  The Gophers beat No. 4 Iowa and top-ranked Oklahoma State over the weekend in a national dual meet tournament.  The Gophers will next compete in the Big Ten championships in early March. Honoring a friend


Sometimes I get to do things as the sports guy here at the station that are truly an honor for me, tonight is one of those things. I get to introduce Cardinal Girls Basketball Coach Brad Atchison to the crowd tonight as part of his appreciation night. Not sure I'm the most qualified guy but as soon as I was asked I said "absolutely!"

Wolves lose in OT in Denver


(Denver, CO)  --02-21-2012--  Denver's Arron Afflalo drained the go-ahead shot with 33.7-seconds remaining in overtime and the Denver Nuggets outlasted the Minnesota Timberwolves 103-101 last night in Denver.  Minnesota's Kevin Love had a double-double with 22 points and 13 boards, and Michael Beasley had added 17 off the bench for the Timberwolves, more....

Brodziak signs contract extension


(St. Paul, MN)  --02-21-2012--  Minnesota Wild center Kyle Brodziak signed a three-year contract extension over the weekend.  Brodziak says he is happy with the deal and sees a bright future for the Wild, which is why he agreed to the pact.  He is on pace to set career highs in goals and assists this season.  More...

Liriano throws in Florida


(Fort Myers, FL)  --02-21-2012--  Twins starting pitcher Francisco Liriano threw his first official pitches of spring training yesterday with a bullpen session that consisted of about 50 pitches.  Liriano says he threw at about 80-to-85-percent full strength and felt good after the outing.  More....
