GOP leader says tax bill "picks the pockets" of Minnesotans

the Minnesota House are blasting Democrats for passing a bill early this

Winning Powerball ticket sold in Florida

Even though the winning Powerball ticket was sold in
Florida, Minnesota did benefit from the hoopla surrounding the record
590-million-dollar lottery jackpot. Minnesotans won more than 3 million
dollars in the drawing, with two players winning a million each and a dozen
players winning 10-grand each. In addition, retailers in the state earned

Severe weather possible today

Severe storms rumbled across eastern Minnesota and
western Wisconsin last (Sun) night, and some areas could see continued rough
weather today (Mon). The National Weather Service in Chanhassen says there
were some tornado warnings associated with the severe thunderstorms, but no
confirmed touchdowns. There have been scattered reports of power outages,

Smaller bonding bill may be attempted today

Backers are trying to revive a bonding package for state public works
projects on this last day of the 2013 legislative session. An
800-million-dollar proposal failed earlier in the House when Republicans
refused to help Democrats pass it -- but the Senate put a much-scaled-back
package in the mix early this morning, with money to renovate the State

Minnesota won't pass anti-bullying bill

Minnesota will not join many other states that have put laws in place to tackle bullying in schools. The Senate started debating anti-bullying legislation late last (Sun) night, but sponsor D-F-L Senator Scott Dibble pulled it early this (Mon) morning, after Republicans said they planned 10 hours of debate on the issue. This past week's skyrocketing gasoline prices again make looking at home made biofuels more attractive. Neighboring North Dakota's oil boom has also flooded the market with cheap natural gas, Leroy Peterson of the Willmar and Kandiyohi County Economic Development Commission office says maybe compressed natural gas might be an answer.
