November 21, 2008

The Leadership Perspective group from Willmar toured the Lakeland Broadcasting Company facilities.  38 people spent an hour learning how the production and commercials and promotional audio are created.  Time was spent in on-air studios to see how programming works and with news director, J P Cola, learning how news is gathered and determined what is aired.

Taylor and Bob Thompson from the on-air staff conducted the tour.

 

December 29, 2008

Mark Toutge of FarmingtonHigh School did a video tour of our

facilities to show his class of 35 students.  A background and tour of all

four studios was given by MaryElin Macht.  Tim Burns showed Mark

how commercials and promotional audio are created in production. Old “carts” were sent back with Mark to show students what audio used to be on.

 

March 24, 2009

5 Cub Scouts and 3 adults with Troop #667 from Belgrade and Brooten

toured the stations.  They learned how to produce commercials and

promotional audio was created.  Learned how on air programming works

and time with our news department to find out how news is gathered and determined for on air. Jena Hillenbrand, Emily Lamb, Paul Stagg and Ben Taylor conducted the tour.

 

April 15, 2009

Jena Hillenbrand did a power point presentation for the Sales and

Marketing class of RidgewaterCollege on the process of sales at

Lakeland Broadcasting.

 

August 25, 2009

11 girls and 2 staff members of  a Willmar Girls’ Home toured the facilities.

The 45 minute tour, given by MaryElin Macht; included programming on the

air, how we pick the music we play, production and producing commercials,

and time was spent with J P cola in the news department learning

how newscasts are done.

 

October 14, 2009

A student from MACCRAY High School of Clara City did a job

shadow for a half a day.  She started her day at 8am with James

Miller on Big Country 100.l morning show.  She learned what goes

on behind the scenes of an on-air announcer.  She spent time with

Tim Burns and was shown how commercials and promotional audio

are created.  She also learned from MaryElin Macht how music is

selected for air play, how it’s loaded and reported to BMI/ASCAP

and other music topics. 

 

November 16, 2009

Two students from RCW Schools job shadowed with Tim and

Abby’s morning show.  They learned what goes on behind the

scenes to do an on-air shift and were offered information they needed

for a composition class.

 

November 20, 2009
